THE NEIGHBORHOOD

There’s so much to love about living here in McGinley Square.

McGinley Square is called “the heart of Jersey City” for a reason. The dynamic bustling neighborhood is filled with shops, restaurants and bars — with new places continuously arriving to explore.

Popular spots include ITA Italian Kitchen, a bistro serving up deliciously inventive Italian fare; Café Alyce, a newcomer that’s quickly becoming one of the most popular local eateries with its fresh take on comfort food, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner; Krewe of McGinley Square, a chill New Orleans inspired BYOB eatery with a patio serving Cajun classics like po' boys, gumbo, jambalaya and crawfish, along with vegan items; Tlaloc Taqueria, a cash-only cozy eatery offering up traditional Mexican cooking such as soups, tortas, burritos, tacos, quesadillas, enchiladas, fajitas, nachos, and much more; Crema, a mellow coffee shop; Our Hero’s Sandwich shop, an old-school family owned neighborhood favorite, specializing in fine meats and fresh bread, also salads, for over 30 years; and McGinley Square Pub, a hangout for local trendsetters; along with the old-fashioned neighborhood mainstay, Astor Bar + Grill.

THE ARTS

The neighborhood’s creative energy also comes into focus at Mana Contemporary, an old tobacco warehouse that’s been converted into one of the tri-state area’s premier art destinations, with artist studios and exhibition spaces; and Drawing Rooms, an arts space that includes exhibition galleries and studios, showcasing multi-dimensional works by emerging artists. Also, Art Fair 14C, the annual arts extravaganza, is an unmissable fall event that gathers hundreds of artists, galleries and arts organizations in the stunning Jersey City Armory.

THE PARKS

Lincoln Park, one of New Jersey’s outstanding green spaces, is also nearby. Considered the jewel of the Hudson County Park system, it’s among the go-to destinations that give Jersey City its special character. The 273.4-acre park, which borders the Hackensack River to the west, is crisscrossed with walking trails, tennis courts, handball and racquetball courts, basketball courts, two soccer fields, running track, biking lanes, and playgrounds, among other recreation amenities.

TRANSPORTATION

Easy access to Manhattan and elsewhere is within reach at the Exchange Place Path Station or Journal Square Transportation Center, with PATH train service into both Lower and Midtown Manhattan. Additionally, the Transportation Center’s bus station provides bus service to various destinations, including New York City and Newark Liberty International Airport, ensuring that that commuting or traveling is always convenient and hassle-free.
